Prometheus

Prometheus is an open-source monitoring and alerting system designed for collecting, storing, and querying time-series data typically related to the performance and health of IT systems, applications, and infrastructures. It primarily focuses on collecting metrics from various services and systems, such as servers, databases, and containers. Prometheus stores this data in a time-series database and offers a powerful query language (PromQL) to retrieve and analyze the collected metrics. It also has alerting capabilities that allow users to define thresholds for performance metrics and receive notifications when issues arise. Prometheus is often used in cloud-native and containerized environments like Kubernetes because it is scalable and flexible enough to monitor dynamic, distributed systems. It is suitable for teams that need a reliable and efficient tool for monitoring system performance, troubleshooting, and automating alert processes.

Overview

Messaging within Prometheus is handled via the integrated Alertmanager. Since it does not have built-in SMS functionality, it needs to be extended via a plugin. This is where Sachet comes into play, where seven is integrated as a messaging provider under the former company name "sms77".

Features

seven for Sachet enables sending SMS as well as text-to-speech messages. In both cases, you can set a custom caller ID. Please observe the applicable regulations.
